American Craft Beer is Booming Globally, Exports Near $100 Million


The craft beer industry of the USA isn’t just pulling out market share from Budweiser, Miller and Coors. It’s beginning to impact brewers in other nations too. Craft beer is increasing by double figures at home, and it is actually picking up improvement globally, as well.

As reported by the Brewers Association, craft beer export quantity went up 35.7 % in 2014, totaling approximately $99.7 million. When it comes to overall consumption, Canada had taken the most beer, which is around 53% of all overall exports. Sweden came in second with 12%. The United Kingdom accounted for 10%. Australia and South Korea got the 4th and 5th spots, while Japan imported reduced craft compared to previous years.

Currently, there are around 80 small and individual craft brewers export their beers, according to the Brewers Association’s Export Development Program. Overall export shipments were found in at 383,422 barrels – lower than 2% of the total amount of craft beer that’s brewed in the U.S.

Sweden continues to be a long-time growing region for Brooklyn Brewery, which last year started a brewery there in partnership with distributor D. Carnegie & Co. and Carlsberg Sweden. Stone Brewing Co. declared a year ago, they will be setting up their very own brewery in Berlin.
